We are collecting the plastic containers you purchase your fruits in (ie/ strawberries, tomatoes, and peach baskets). If you can save them and drop them by the office (350 Industrial Parkway South) throughout the growing season, we would greatly appreciate it.
Your generosity will allow us to share produce we grow with the community (Food banks, shelters and designated families).
Thank you for your assistance!
Aurora Mayor, Geoff Dawe, representatives of Miller Group, and Joan Stonehocker of York Region Food Network (YRFN) will be at the Aurora Community Garden to launch the 2018 community garden season.
For the past 25 years YRFN has been managing community gardens in York Region. The first garden started in Markham in 1993 and over the years our program has expanded to 4 other municipalities. Our Urban Agriculture activities touched the lives of over 1300 residents in 2017 by: offering land to those without space to grow, teaching children the importance of healthy soil and healthy food, supporting school gardens, and providing free food growing workshops.
Miller Group has generously donated compost to enrich the soil at our community gardens for more than a decade. We are grateful for the continued support from Miller Compost as we expand our growing spaces and build healthy communities through our garden programs.
We are delighted to acknowledge Miller Group’s 2018 donation during International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW). ICAW raises awareness of the benefits of using compost to improve soil quality, grow healthy plants, and improve water quality.
