Food for Health … Food for All

Food security is defined as a situation in which all people obtain a safe, culturally acceptable, nutritionally adequate diet through a sustainable food system that maximizes self-reliance and social justice. (Hamm and Bellows, J Nutr Educ Behav. 2003; 35:27-43)

Food Insecurity: the inadequate or insecure access to adequate food due to financial constraints.

Tarasuk, V, Mitchell, A, Dachner, N. Research to identify policy options to reduce food insecurity (PROOF). (2013). Household food insecurity in Canada 2011. Retrieved from http://nutritionalsciences.lamp.utoronto.ca/
