Narratives from the Frontline

During the COVID-19 pandemic existing food services ramped up and new food initiatives emerged. Between July 2020 and January 2021, a team of York Region Food Network (YRFN) staff and volunteers spoke with 46 York Region-based organizations. Each of these organizations shared their stories of working on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide food to their clients and communities. This research set out to identify gaps in services, document innovation and resiliency, better understand partnerships and collaborations, and explore opportunities for long-term coordination.
